Redlands Swim Club Members, This is Your Hub
Welcome to a new season as Redlands Swim Club members, and we’re so glad to have your family with us. This is where you’ll find everything need throughout the year.
New member checklist: your first steps at Redlands Swim Club
This guide walks you through what happens next and how to stay organised for the season ahead.
Onboarding checklist
- First, confirm squad allocation with Cleveland Aquatic Centre.
- After your first session, add training times to your calendar
- Then, join our RSC Facebook group. This is our primary platform for updates, and urgent changes are posted there only.
- Also, add club email info@redlandsswimming.com.au to contacts (so nothing goes to Junk)
- Next, purchase uniform essentials (your first RSC swim cap is complimentary). See uniform expectations.
- Remember, keep memberships current through Swim Central (they expire 30 June every year)
- When it’s time, after consulting with the Head Coach, nominate for your first meet through Swim Central. We will give advance notice of upcoming meets, or you can check the Swimming Brisbane Club Meet Allocations document
- And finally, please arrive at training at least 5 minutes early to ensure a strict start time.
Redlands Swim Club Communications: check Facebook first
We use email and Facebook, but they do different jobs.
Facebook is where last-minute changes go. We post all urgent notices on Facebook only, such as changes to timekeeping rosters or event cancellations. Therefore, please make a habit of checking the RSC Facebook group before you leave for training, club nights and meets.
Email – non urgent communications. We use email for non-urgent updates, meet information and general notices. It isn’t possible to send urgent notices via email.
Adding a second parent or carer to the email list. We can only email the address on your swimmer’s Swim Central profile. To add your partner as a recipient, they must create their own Swim Central profile and register for a free Dry Membership with RSC. That adds their email address to our system.
Timekeeping at swim meets
Redlands Swim Club is powered by volunteers, with a small group of committee members juggling club responsibilities alongside work, family and other commitments. To help ensure our meets run smoothly and fairly, we ask all families to take a turn timekeeping at swim meets.
Did you know? For every race you nominate your swimmer, a timekeeping duty is created for 2 people.

Simple guide
- Your first two meets: No timekeeping is expected while you settle in and get to know how things work.
- From your third meet: You’ll join the timekeeping roster alongside other club families.
- Not sure how it works? Don’t worry. Club nights are a relaxed place to learn, and committee members are always happy to help. You’ll be paired with another timekeeper, making it a great opportunity to learn the ropes and meet other parents. We also have a simple guide on how to timekeep here.
Timekeeping is one of the simplest and most important ways families can contribute to the club, and many parents find it’s a great way to become part of the swim club community.
How our timekeeping allocation system works
- When meet hosts release timekeeping duties, we’ll notify members.
- Families then have 24 hours to nominate their preferred time.
- After the window closes, our Race Secretary allocates remaining vacant slots, starting with families who attended the previous meet but didn’t timekeep.
- Once allocations are set, any swaps are arranged directly between families in our Facebook group, directly on the post that allocates sessions. This lets the committee focus on running the club.
Volunteering at Redlands Swim Club
Great swim clubs don’t run on membership fees alone. They run on people.
Redlands Swim Clun is a volunteer-run community club. While membership fees help cover some costs of running the club, they don’t cover everything it takes to deliver a great experience for our swimmers. A significant portion of each membership fee goes directly to Swimming Australia and related bodies, so we rely on the support of our swim families throughout the year.
Behind every email, club night, swim meet and club activity are people giving their time to make it happen. Our committee members manage a wide range of responsibilities alongside their own jobs, families and lives – just like you.
We want our swimmers to have oportunties to develop their skills, compete and build friendships as part of a team. Making those opportuities possible takes more than coaches and pool time. It takes a community of families willing to pitch in.
That’s where our members come in.
Ways you can help that will make a difference and keep our club existing
We understand that every family has different circumstances, skills and availability. Contributing doesn’t have to mean taking on a committee position or making a big time commitment. Small contributions shares across our membership make a real difference.
Some of the ways you can help include:
- Donating food for our family BBQs
- Taking your turn at timekeeping during swim meets
- Helping out on club nights
- Assisting with specific tasks or projects throughout the year
- Sharing professional skills, useful contacts or sponsorship opportunities
- Joining the committee when the time is right for you.
Every task someone takes on helps spread the workload and allows our club to keep delivering a great experience for our swimmers. Our club belongs to all of us, and its future depends on all of us playing a part. Every contribution is appreciated, and if you’re unsure, reach out and we can find a solution together.

Swim club fees and memberships
Memberships must remain current throughout the season in order to train and compete. In addition, you pay race entry fees per meet through Swim Central. For a full breakdown of all fees, please see our Fees Overview page.
What to bring to swim squad training?
- Swimwear (not boardshorts/leisurewear)
- Goggles — a spare pair in the bag is never a bad idea
- A drink bottle
- A towel
- RSC Swim Cap (all new members receive one complimentary cap)
Your coach will let you know if your child’s squad needs any equipment beyond this — common extras include fins, a kickboard, a pull buoy, a snorkel. No need to buy any of this before your first session.
