About Redlands Swim Club

Welcome to Redlands Swim Club — where Bayside kids have been learning to swim, race, and belong since the 1970s. We’re a not-for-profit, volunteer-run club with one simple goal: raising confident young swimmers who love the water.

Our swimmers train at Cleveland Aquatic Centre in ability‑based squads through individual coaching arrangements with Belgravia Leisure, the centre’s operator. See Our Facilities for more information.

What It Means to Be an Incorporated Association

Redlands Swim Club Inc. operates as an incorporated association (not-for-profit) registered under the Associations Incorporation Act 1981, holding IA number IA04405. You can verify our active registry details via the Queensland Government Charity and Association Register. So, what does this mean?

  • A Separate Legal Entity: The club exists independently of whoever’s on the committee at any given time. As a result, the association — not any individual or coach — owns all swimming gear, timing equipment, financial accounts, and club property, for the ongoing benefit of our swimmers.
  • Strictly Not-For-Profit: Every dollar raised through fees, swim meets, BBQ fundraisers, or grants must go back into coaching, facilities, and equipment. In other words, no one profits personally from the club.
  • Statutory Management Duties: Our Management Committee operates under a formal Constitution, and the Queensland Office of Fair Trading oversees how we run it. Because of this, taking on a committee role means accepting a position of legal trust. The law requires committee members to act with reasonable care, diligence, and good faith. This includes keeping an accurate asset register and not removing club property without committee approval recorded in the minutes.
