What the JX Program Recognises
The Pho3nix Junior Excellence (JX) Program recognises swimmers aged 9–13. It rewards those who achieve qualifying times at approved meets. Additionally, Swimming Australia updates the JX criteria and qualifying times every season. This gives juniors clear, achievable goals. In short, it’s not about being the fastest. It’s about finding your best and growing into it.
Swimmers can earn Gold, Silver, Bronze or Blue standards based on their results at JX‑qualifying meets.
Current criteria and qualifying times: Swimming Australia JX Program
Getting started with the JX Program is simple. First, register your swimmer with Redlands Swim Club. Then, get them training in one of our squads. As a result, their times at any JX-qualifying meet count automatically toward their standard. You don’t need to nominate separately. JX recognition happens in the background every time your child races.
Before entering, to make sure a meet counts, check our Meets & Nominations guide before entering, and likewise, see How to Enter Meets if you’re new to the nomination process. Not sure what a “qualifying time” actually means or how standards are calculated? Our Qualifying Times Explained page breaks it down in plain language.
New to the club? Families just starting out should read our New Member Guide for everything you need to know before your first JX-eligible meet, and check the Season Calendar so you don’t miss an approved event.

Quick Questions
What age can my child start chasing a JX standard?
The Junior Excellence (JX) Program covers swimmers aged 9 to 13. Younger or older swimmers can still race and improve — JX recognition simply kicks in once they’re in the right age bracket.
Do all meets count toward JX?
No — only approved, JX-qualifying meets count. Check the Meets & Nominations page or ask your coach before entering if you’re unsure.
How will we know if my child achieves a new standard?
Parents and guardians receive an automatic email the moment your swimmer achieves a new standard — no need to track it yourself.
💙 More Than Just Times
JX builds confidence, pride, and a sense of achievement. Every new standard — Blue, Bronze, Silver or Gold — is simply a marker of progress. The real goal is beating your own personal best, one swim at a time. Consequently, when juniors focus on improving themselves, the higher standards naturally follow.
