Meet our Committee
Volunteer parents run Redlands Swim Club. We care deeply about the sport our kids love. We want the club to be a place where every child can thrive. Like you, we’re ordinary people with busy lives. Even so, we step up to these roles so the club keeps running for all our swimmers.
Above all, we’re approachable. We’re here to help, and we love meeting new families. So if you ever have a question, want to get involved, or just want to know how things work behind the scenes, reach out anytime.

What the Committee Does
Committee roles aren’t full-time jobs. Instead, each role changes with the club year. For example, the Treasurer is busiest at the end of the financial year, and whenever expenses need approving. Meanwhile, new member sign-ups keep the Registrar busy. Order cycles and inventory keep the Uniform Convenor on their toes. And, club nights bring the Race Secretary into action. In short, this flexible approach lets busy parents take on a role and still show up for their own kids at training and meets.
How the Committee is Appointed
Each year, we elect the committee at tour Annual General Meeting (AGM). Our constitution says we must hold the AGM by 30 September. Any two members can nominate another member as a candidate. They must then give the nomination to the Secretary in writing, at least 14 days before the AGM.
At least 7 days before the AGM, we send out a full list of candidates. This is so members know who’s standing. However, if we don’t receive enough nominations in advance, we can also take nominations from the floor on the night too. Even so, all committee members retire at each AGM. Afterward, they can re-nominate and stand for election again.
Our Affiliation
Redlands Swim Club is proude to affiliate with Swimming Queensland and Swimming Australia. As a result, Swimming Australia’s National Insurance Program covers our club and its volunteers. This includes public liability and personal accident cover. In addition, we follow the National Integrity Framework, Swimming Australia’s code of conduct. We also follow Queensland’s Child Safe Standards. Furthermore, we’ve built child safety into our own code of conduct. In short: when you get involved with our committee or volunteer at club nights, you’re covered. The club also holds itself to a high standard.
How We Work Together
We don’t run formal sub-committees. Because we have a small volunteer base, several committee members take on more than one role. Therefore, everyone pitches in wherever the club needs a hand. As a result, we work as a team, not separate departments.
