Entering Your Child in a Swim Meet

All meets are entered online through Swim Central, Swimming Australia’s national system. This process is called nominating your child.

How to nominate

  • Log in to Swim Central
  • Find the event
  • Select your swimmer’s races
  • Pay the per‑race fee to confirm nomination (usually $11–18 for prep and regional meets; state and national events cost more. Read further for detailed cost breakdown)

Where relays form part of the competition, entries are organised by the Race Secretary/coaches and the Club covers these costs. Relays are one of the most enjoyable parts of racing — swimmers feel the team spirit more than in any individual event — so we strongly encourage all qualifying swimmers to show up and take part.

Which races to nominate

Coaches will guide swimmers on which races to enter.

  • For championship meets: generally nominate for all races your swimmer has achieved a qualifying time, since they should be spaced apart due to the large number of competitors and events.
  • For smaller meets: the Club will send a spreadsheet with recommended races based on your swimmer’s history and goals, keep in mind to not nominate events immediately after another.

To view the meets Redlands has been invited to (via Swimming Brisbane), open the Swimming Brisbane Club Meet Allocations document and use the Find function (Ctrl+F or Cmd+F) to search “Redlands”.

Race Entry Fee

Race entry fees vary depending on the level of the meet — generally, the higher the level, the higher the cost per event. Here are examples of typical entry fees across different meet types:

  • 2026 Redlands Short Course Preparation Meet (Preparation Meet): $11
  • 2026 Brisbane Senior/Junior Metropolitan Championships (Regional Championship): $18
  • 2026 Hancock Prospecting Queensland Championships (State Championship): $26
  • 2026 Speedo National Preparation Meet (National Preparation Meet): $16
  • 2026 Australian Age Championships (National Championship): $35

Specialised meets such as Regional, State, and National Open Water Championships generally involve higher entry fees due to additional safety, staffing, and event‑specific requirements.

Late Entry

If you miss the nomination deadline on Swim Central, it is often still possible to submit a Late Entry.

  • For lower‑level meets (Preparation Meets and Regional Championships), Late Entries are not always listed separately on Swim Central. In these cases, the best approach is to email the meet organiser directly to ask whether Late Entries are being accepted.
  • For higher‑level meets (State and National Championships), organisers usually create a separate Late Entry version of the meet on Swim Central. You can nominate through this listing up until the Late Entry deadline. Late Entry fees are significantly higher — often more than double the standard entry fee.

Because Late Entry fees can add up quickly, it’s worth checking your email and Facebook for deadline reminders from RSC and avoid missing deadlines.
