A Simple Guide to Swim Meet Levels
Competitive swimming has a clear pathway — here’s how it works:

Most swimmers start racing at Club Nights, where they learn the basics. As they gain confidence, they naturally move up through the meet levels — Development/Transition, Preparation, then Regional and State Championships. A few dedicated swimmers push all the way to Nationals, and Redlands has proudly produced many of them — including two Olympians who went on to win multiple medals.
Quick Guide (for fast readers)
Club Nights: Practice only
Development: Beginner racing
Transition: Beginner racing + official times
Preparation: First level where times qualify upward
Regional: Region-only championship
State: QLD championship
Nationals: Highest level
