Our Squads

At Redlands Swim Club there are six swimming squads available, broken down into three main categories:

  1. Bronze (Go Swim Academy & Junior)
  2. Silver (Metro 1 & 2)
  3. Gold (State & National)

Junior Squad

In our Bronze Squad the first level is Go Swim Academy (Mini Squad).  This is our entry level swim squad where swimmers will be given the opportunity to swim in the 50m pool but do most of their lesson in one half of the lane.  This squad has a dedicated learn to swim and stroke correction coach and is available to attend 3.30pm to 4.15pm Monday to Friday and 8.00am to 8.45am on Saturday.  Recommended attendance is 1-2 days per week.

The second level is Junior Squad. Once competent in Go Swim Academy (Mini Squad) our next level squad is our Junior Bronze squad.  This squad focuses on mastering the four swimming strokes, some race preparation and an extra 15mins in the pool. Our Bronze squad has a dedicated coach and lessons are conducted in the 50m pool.  This squad is available to attend 3.30pm to 4.30pm Monday to Friday and 8.00am to 9.00am on Saturday.  Recommended attendance is 1-2 days per week.

Silver Squad (Metro 1 & 2)

In our Metro 1 Silver Squad the focus is on learning to train, initial introduction to race tactics and competing as an individual and as part of a team. This squad prepares our swimmers to compete at club level meets. Metro 1 trains in the 50m pool with a dedicated Coach.  Recommended attendance is 2-3 times per week.

Our Metro 2 Silver Squad focuses on consolidating training and becoming more proficient in race preparation for advancing your swimming abilities to compete at club level events but also regional and state level competitions. Metro 2 trains in both the 50m and 25m pools with a dedicated Coach. Recommended attendance is 3 – 4 times per week.

Gold Squad (State)

Our State Gold Squad focuses on reaching competitive and personal goals in swimming while competing at regional, state and national levels.  Training is available both morning and afternoons for 2 to 2.5 hours and is a mix of gym and pool conditioning and has a dedicated Coach.  Recommended attendance is 4 to 6 times per week.

Gold Squad (Nationals)

Our Nationals Gold Squad focuses on continuing to reach competitive and personal goals in swimming while competing at regional, state, national and international levels.  Our National squad train morning and afternoons across both gym and pool sessions for 2 to 2.5 hours.  Our National Squad is coached by our Head Coach.  Recommended attendance is 6 to 9 times per week.

Placement into Squads

The makeup and members of each squad including the number of swimmers is entirely at the discretion of the Head Coach as is the training schedule and times offered to each squad.  If at any time you have any questions with regards to squad configurations and training times, please speak to the Head Coach in the first instance.
