Our passionate Coaches at Redlands Swim Club consistently strive to nurture desire, dedication, discipline and respect.  Our Coaches’ goals are to produce top class citizens as well as top class swimmers.

Jo Collins – Head Coach

Jo holds a Silver Swim Coach Licence and is working towards finishing her ASCA Strength and Conditioning Level 1 accreditation. Jo has been coaching swim squads for 20 years in both England and Australia. Since relocating to Australia 15 years ago, Jo has coached at Thornlands State School, Ormiston College and the YMCA. Jo has been with the Redlands Swim Club for 8 years and has been Head Coach since mid-2020. Jo is responsible for coaching and leading our National Squad and overseeing the younger squads.

With a swimming background starting when she was 6 years old, Jo is driven to support as many swimmers as possible reach their own individual goals. Jo enjoys the personal relationships she gets to build with each swimmer, sharing their journey and seeing the friendships and camaraderie that develop within the team.

Jo’s standout achievement in her career to date was having the opportunity to coach swimmers who achieved national medals last year. Her goals for Redlands Swim Club are to be promoted to the Brisbane Premier Division by 2025 and to achieve a top 25 club position at the 2023 Long Course State Championships.

Oliver Collins – Coach

With an impressive competitive swimming career of his own, Ollie recently stood up and took on the responsibility of Coach to our Junior Squad and State Squad swimmers. In his short time as Coach, our swimmers guided by Ollie have already experienced some amazing improvement, not only in their technique but also in their times. With a firm but fair approach, Ollie pushes his squad members to achieve their best in every session.

Kimi Otene – Coach

Kimi has been a Coach with Redlands Swim Club for many years. Her calm, supportive and encouraging approach to coaching and mentoring our Silver Metro 1 and Metro 2 squads has seen many of our swimmers develop through her dedication and love of this sport. Kimi thrives when seeing her swimmers reach new milestones and thoughtfully nurtures their individual growth and passion, as they begin to transition themselves into competitive swimmers.
